We’re Having A 200th Birthday Party And You’re Invited!
Welcome to the official site of the Village of Goshen’s two hundredth Birthday celebration! We’re in the planning stages and so is this site.
Join us along the way as we prepare for our party in 2009. Check out our calendar of events, read a little bit about our history, share your ideas, volunteer now and get ready to renew your pride in our community.
We plan to kick it all off on March 28, 2009 with an Incorporation Day celebration – 200 years to the day that the Village became official.
On May 18, don your fancy clothes or come in period dress to the Bicentennial Gala Ball at the Harness Racing Museum.
In July you can visit our houses of worship with one Saturday planned for an ecumenical luncheon and guided tours.
Just when you think you should be planning for the start of school again, delay those chores and be downtown on Friday August 7 for our Farmer’s Market and then at Goshen’s Historic Track Saturday and Sunday August 8 and 9 for a step back in time. Those are the days of our 19th century County Fair complete with a square dance, children’s games from way back when…, a tent full of entertainment, one full of interactive opportunities for all and, of course, our livestock and petting zoo in another. All to remind us of our agricultural and farming heritage when life was simpler?
Top off your summer on Labor Day Saturday, September 5, as we enjoy a gala float Parade through town following the Firemen’s Parade.
Wait, you’re not through yet! Memories will be captured in Part 2 of our Journal. It will be a continuation of Part 1 on sale earlier in March, 2009 and filled with nostalgia, enjoyable anecdotes, some history and a preview of the year in celebration.
Of course, smaller events including, art shows, tours, educational talks, concerts and other events are still in the planning stage.
Want your club, church or other event to be included in our calendar?
Do you have other ideas?
Do you want to come along and be a part of any of these events?
